About

We are a public electric utility serving over 46,000 customers throughout Grant County. We were created in 1938 by a popular vote of the people in the county who had been struggling for 20 years to receive electricity.

Grant County is a rural, predominantly agricultural region. The ability to maintain local leadership of power resources has allowed the county to grow and prosper. Our low-cost power allows the county to be a leading player in the agricultural sector of Washington state and a driving force in regional and state economies.

We own and operate the Priest Rapids Project on the Columbia River in central Washington. The Priest Rapids Project, comprised of Priest Rapids and Wanapum dams, has the capacity to produce 2,000 megawatts of clean, renewable and reliable electricity. We share this affordable electric power with 23 Northwest utilities that serve millions of customers, creating economic benefits throughout the Northwest.

As a customer, you have a say in policy, much like the stockholder of a private corporation. We have a five-member board of commissioners made up of local citizens elected on a nonpartisan basis by the people of Grant County. Commissioners set policy, review operations and approve budget expenditures.
